What to expect when arriving at Marco Polo Airport

At Marco Polo Airport, the bus stops and water-transport connection are both accessible from the arrivals area. ACTV and ATVO buses stop in the second lane outside arrivals; for Alilaguna, follow the blue “Water Transport” signs to the first floor and the moving walkway to the dock.

If you are taking a taxi, taxis wait at the terminal entrance on the ground floor, with bus stops just beyond them. Private motorboat transfers are also available; ask the operator for the fare before boarding.

ACTV urban line 5 and the ATVO express line connect the airport with Piazzale Roma, Venice’s bus and road-transport terminus. From Piazzale Roma, Venezia Santa Lucia station is a 5-minute walk across the Calatrava Bridge.

ACTV’s airport bus tickets include a €10 single ticket, valid for 75 minutes from validation, and an €18 return ticket, with each journey valid for 75 minutes. Airport bus connections are excluded from ordinary one-way and time-limited tickets unless you purchase the required airport supplement.

Each ticketed passenger can carry up to three luggage items free: two with combined dimensions no greater than 120 cm and one no greater than 150 cm. Only one item may exceed 120 cm, and no item may exceed 150 cm.

For another land connection, ACTV line 15 and an ATVO express line serve Venezia Mestre station. If you are planning time on foot around the city, a walk from Dorsoduro to San Marco offers a route through Venice.

Alilaguna water buses link the airport with Venice and lagoon islands including Murano, Burano and Lido. Stops in Venice include San Marco, Rialto, Fondamenta Nuove and Guglie, so match the route to your destination before boarding.

A one-way Alilaguna ticket covers a continuous journey only. For multiple stops, the airport advises buying a 24-hour or 72-hour ticket. Journey times and frequencies are in Alilaguna’s updated schedule. ACTV also offers an €18 Aerobus-plus-boat ticket, valid for 90 minutes and including navigation service and ACTV route 5 to or from the airport and Venice.

For a private transfer, Cooperativa Artigiana Radiotaxi is the airport’s taxi provider, with a 24-hour service at +39 041 59 64. Fixed fares are €40 to Piazzale Roma, €35 to Mestre centre and €45 to the cruise ship terminal.

Alilaguna tickets are sold at the arrivals-hall Public Transport counter 8, the dock ticket office, baggage-claim machines near belts 3 or 5, on board and online.
